In Potion Permit, you take on the role of the new alchemist of the small town of Moonbury. Your job is to collect ingredients, make potions, and heal sick townsfolk all while learning more about why the town seems to have a poor impression of alchemists…
A fun game, but it feels incomplete. It has so much potential but falls short of using it to its advantage. While it may sound critical of me, I wish the devs had let this one cook a little longer or at least had some more meat on the updates.
I enjoy most of the gameplay, but it becomes a tad grindy after a while. Getting the ingredients is fun, and I like that the plants can be grown in your home after you progress enough, but the monster parts require you to still go out and grind for days just to make a stockpile of potions to keep or sell.
I did find most of the characters fairly interesting. They all get their time in the sun when it comes to events, which does help flesh them out. However, the romance was so lackluster that it felt like an afterthought. All you can do is go on dates that give you a cutscene and little else. Essentially, nothing changes even if you woo a potential partner.
Do I Recommend It?
Yes and no. If you enjoy the idea of collecting ingredients, making potions, and running a little clinic, then this is the game for you. But beyond that, there isn't much else in the way of content. There do seem to be interesting updates coming, so make sure to keep it on your radar if you're still undecided.
